A short but well deserved break!

Life has been hectic with a lot of travel, work is challenging, time flies, problems pop-up, problems get solved - life goes on.  So when we get a chance to get away it's always something new.  It's the journey... it has always been the journey.  Sure it's good to plan for the future, but don't forget to enjoy the now, every day is a blessing!

What could be better than a walk through an old growth Redwood Forest?

These majestic trees can grow to be over 300 feet tall and live for hundreds of years!

There's a quietness in such places.  The under story and the acoustic absorption of the bark make these places very still and great places to just reflect.  John Muir knew what this was like and claimed to re-energize in such places.

A chronology of some pretty significant events in history, and where they occurred by ring count on this fallen Redwood tree.

One of the older trees in the forest near the Russian River.

A turn-style for a trolley car near Fisherman's Wharf

These are noisy! If your of a certain age, you might remember the "Rice-a-Roni" commercials.

Alcatraz in the bay, these cars trundle up and down the streets and are pulled along via buried cables in the street.

Sunset on Fisherman's Wharf.

Some of the tall ships moored to the wharf.

Museums now, they have a story to tell.

Another foggy morning! I found a couple of cool books at the "City Lights" bookstore. The Logician and the Engineer... yeah, and Euler's Gem too...

Had to check out the "Painted Ladies"

These old Victorian homes surround a wonderful green space known as Alamo Square.

San Francisco has some really nice spaces.

But it's a very expensive place to live.

We made our way through Chinatown, Little Italy and Ghirardelli Square

Then we explored the Napa and Sanoma Valleys

They say - the most photographed winery in Napa Valley.  I prefer my castles to be real!

However, I think the emu's were very interesting!

Valley of the moon...

That's all for now!
